How do I remove the pump from my engine/motor?

Why does my engine stall when I release the trigger of the spray gun?

This is typically caused when the piston stem in the unloader is stuck and does not shift.  The piston in the unloader shifts back and forth as you open and close the shut off gun. When the piston sticks in the closed position the by-pass water has nowhere to go which causes a large pressure spike instantaneously stalling the engine. The unloader valve will need to be repaired or replaced.
