High-pressure mist systems are a proven method to treat lumber during the drying process. Higher yields and better quality are the results, as problems with warping or stair-stepping in panels are reduced. For effective conditioning, it is necessary to quickly raise moisture content of the outside shell of the lumber by 3-5% moisture content.

A high-pressure Cat Pumps water mist system is the most accurate, efficient way to properly condition lumber. Water is pumped through high-pressure atomizing nozzles resulting in a fine mist that is uniformly distributed. An alternative to using high-pressure water mist is using steam from a boiler, which is a less efficient and more expensive process.
