Oil wells bring up large amounts of saltwater when the oil is being pumped. Rendering “produced water,” the majority of it consists of salt or brackish water (also called “oilfield brine”). After the oil and brine have been separated, saltwater is injected back into the oil reservoir. This process is used when an oilfield’s pressure has been depleted and is no longer sufficient to aid in the pumping process. Also referred to as “secondary recovery” and “waterflooding,” the injection re-establishes sufficient reservoir pressure, allowing the retrieval of unrecovered oil. Cat Pumps’ reciprocating triplex pumps are ideal for saltwater injection because of our proven reliability in continuous-duty applications. With the corrosive nature of saltwater, we offer both Nickel Aluminum Bronze and 316 Stainless Steel Pumps. And for specific saltwater injection requirements, we also specialize in custom-built systems designed to prescribed specifications. With field-proven dependability in applications around the globe, Cat Pumps provides the best value for saltwater injection systems. |
