Industrial Duty Pumps & Accessories for Homogenization Applications
Homogenization is the process of modifying the physical properties of a substance (liquid or mixture) by creating emulsions (liquid in a liquid suspension) or dispersions (solid in a liquid suspension). The process reduces the particle size of one component and disperses them evenly throughout the resultant mixture.
To increase fluid velocity, a high-pressure pump forces the liquid through a narrow orifice. After the velocity is increased, the liquid hits an impact surface causing severe turbulence, implosion, impingement, cavitation and shear forces for optimal emulsion and/or dispersion. High-pressure homogenization does a more consistent job in less time than conventional mechanical or ultrasonic mixers.
Typical applications include dairy and food products (sauces, milk concentrates, flavors, creamers, ice cream, etc.), chemicals (adhesives, lubricating oils, resins, soaps, emulsifiers, etc.), and cosmetics/pharmaceuticals (creams, ointments, lotions, syrups, nutraceuticals, etc).
Cat Pumps offers brass, nickel aluminum bronze, 304 stainless, 316 stainless steel and duplex stainless steel manifold materials, fitted with a variety of optional seals to be compatible with the liquid being pumped. With a maximum pressure of 10,000 psi/690 bar, Cat Pumps products cover a good portion of the homogenization market.
Built for continuous duty industrial applications and, with field-proven dependability in applications around the globe, Cat Pumps provides the best high-pressure pumps and systems for homogenization applications.
