Industrial Duty Pumps & Accessories for Truck Wash Applications
Every day, millions of trucks travel throughout the U.S. and Canada and require washing on a regular basis for maintenance, DOT requirements, and aesthetic reasons. A tractor-trailer might display a corporate trademark logo or a shipping company might proudly display their name. Regardless of what’s shown, the equipment must be well maintained. Tractor-trailers are mobile billboards and must look well-kept so that the right message is sent. During winter, trucks get washed more often to remove road salt, ice and snow build-up, and that can add thousands of pounds to the total weight.
Truck washes run non-stop and rely heavily on dependable equipment to keep up with the rigorous pace. On top of the high-frequency use of chemicals, the environment, pump cycling, and water quality are extremely hard on equipment. Cat Pumps has provided dependable, long-lasting truck wash pumps for over 50 years. Truck washes using high pressure for cleaning and/or rinsing will operate at 1000 - 2000 PSI. The flow required depends on the type of wash from 5 GPM for a self-serve gun to 70 GPM for a touch-free automatic.
Truck washes can be set up to have a central pump system to run multiple guns that needs to produce enough flow to cover peak demand. To improve system efficiency, Cat Pumps has custom, factory-programmed Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) available. The VFD gets feedback from sensors placed in the system and will automatically adjust the system flow based on demand.
Our VFD-control systems will shut down and startup automatically, so no energy is wasted running the pump when there’s no demand. The significant energy savings gives you a fast return on investment, and in some cases, the cost of the VFD can be made up in less than a year.
